Although we’d love to, not all of us can be on holiday all year round. In fact, most of us will be working in cities at some point during summer. In order to combat the urban heat and avoid running to the nearest airport to book a one way ticket to the Maldives, here are our top picks on things you can see / eat / shop this summer in Cardiff and the rest of the UK. If you have any suggestions and, why not, some alternatives for other UK cities drop us a tweet @Squigglesblogs.
See – The Alexander Mc Queen Savage Beauty exhibit at the Victoria & Albert Museum closes on the 2nd August so if you want to see the ‘first and largest retrospective of his work’ get there sharpish and prepare to be inspired.

Eat – Cardiff’s park plaza has teamed up with Hendrick’s gin to offer a twist on the traditional British afternoon tea complete with a Hendrick’s Cucumber Gin cocktail served in a vintage Hendrick’s tea pot. Sounds like your kind of thing? You can find info on their website .

Shop – Head to your local farmer’s market and pick up strawberries, fresh bread, some cheese and ham. Then, on your way home, pick up a bottle of prosecco, get inspired by these prosecco cocktails suggested by Blow and there you are, all you need for a summer dinner party to impress your friends and family.
