We are not going to lie, getting into the Christmas mood is particularly challenging this year, it’s difficult to embrace the season as we usually would. However, we are extremely lucky to have a wonderful independent business here on The Squiggles Edit today – Tara’s Wonderworld. Launched by a brave founder in 2018 who left everything behind to throw herself into a new business venture, Tara’s Wonderworld is the perfect solution to bring a little Christmas spirit into your home. So take a seat, grab a cuppa and get ready for some festive cheer.

How did your business journey with Tara’s Wonderworld begin?

Tara’s Wonderworld was created back in 2018 when the founder, Britta, decided to completely change her career and move from banking to balloons! Taking inspiration from her mother who always treated her to exceptional birthday decorations growing up, she wanted to use her own creativity to do the same for her kids. This is when she thought of the idea of creating gorgeous balloon garlands, that people could put together themselves in an easy and affordable way. The business started small with Britta packing balloons on her bedroom floor but over the past two years, it has really grown and now we have four team members who work together to send out beautiful products and keep customers happy each day.

Tell us more about the team.

We have a small but dedicated team here at Tara’s Wonderworld. Britta, the founder, is a perfectionist and keeps the business running smoothly every day. She is the creative one in the team who designs our balloon garlands and constantly looks for new product ideas. Kate is in charge of packing orders and makes sure all of our orders are packaged nicely…she even sprays them with perfume! Hallie is the balloon garland genius and has remembered all 54 of our garlands by heart. She puts all of our DIY kits together and makes sure our customers get everything they need to create their garlands. Finally, there is Emily, who is the newest member of the team. She controls our social media pages and is working on having our very own website up and running soon.

This year, feeling festive might be a little more tricky so how do you plan to get into the Christmas mood? What are your favourite products for the season?

Of course, this year has been a massive challenge, but that is exactly why we are so keen to make sure Christmas is really celebrated to its fullest! Getting into the Christmas mood has already started with us as we recently decorated the house with our new Christmas decorations for a photoshoot so for a week there was tinsel around the staircase and baubles covering the table. Although people are bound to get fed up of being at home, it is the perfect opportunity to use the time to really transform your house into a winter wonderland and create something you can really look forward to. Why not get excited for Christmas and end the year on a high?
We have a bunch of new products that we are in love with but our favourite has got to be our chunky tinsel garland with white snowflakes! It is super thick and fluffy which looks stunning weaved around the staircase or hung over the fireplace and the detailing of the snowflakes really makes it feel frosted. We are also obsessed with our super long berry covered garland! Something about that natural winter look this year feels really special and we love the idea of bringing some of the festive season inside the home.

Finally, what does Christmas look like to you?

The only way to sum up Christmas is smiles all around. Christmas to us looks like families at home in a fairy-light lit room with hot chocolate in their hands and crazy Christmas socks on, reminiscing on old memories and getting excited for what’s next to come. Everywhere is decorated with festivity and cheer fills the air.

How will you be spreading Christmas cheer this year? We think a hot chocolate, extra effort when putting up the decorations and, why not, some more festive inspiration from our online magazine is a very good place to start.
