Over the past few weeks, there has been a real focus on beauty here at Squiggles HQ. The arrival of Spring always brings around a fair share of new launches and treatments to try and – as we all collectively emerge from months of hibernation – we thought we would share our current favourites. From the new urban spa to the must-try lipsticks and the exercises you can try at home, you will want to add these to your April wish list.

The new in beauty – Combining beauty and skincare is not a revolutionary concept but finding products that actually deliver results whilst not compromising on pigmentation and finish is no mean feat.  Enter Avon’s Hydramatic Lipstick collection. We were kindly sent a few of these to try and loved the range of shades and hydrating properties. There are more than 50% skincare ingredients (meaning that they won’t dry out lips) in these and the colour range is excellent. I loved Coral and Rose Quartz and thought they also doubled up as brilliant cream blushers – top marks for the price point and baby pink packaging too.

The Urban Spa – We popped in to the House of Muse Spa launch a few weeks ago to see their new spa and all the amazing treatments they have an offer. Aside from their ‘classroom’ offering which includes yoga, pilates and other classes (I really want to try their Barre Class), House of Muse Beauty offers a gorgeous range of treatments to suit all beauty needs (not just facials but also manicures, waxing, and lashes). Treatments can be tailored to individual needs and – while the 8 step hydro facial was tempting – I returned to try a Gua Sha Express Facial with Amy. Saying I loved it is an understatement – this a technique focused on alleviating tension in the face and jawline and seeks to alleviate circulation and reduce bloating (hello snatched jawline!). I loved the mixture of hot and cold tools as well as the massage techniques aimed for relaxation and will be booking my next one ASAP.

Face Yoga – On the subject of self-care, I got to thinking about daily habits which can go a long way in order to complement regular facials and treatments. As a laptop worker and chronic frowner (my face when I’m confused at a screen is truly a sight to behold) tension headaches and fatigue are a regular occurrence . I’m looking forward to trying Luvly, a female-founded face-yoga app offering personalised face yoga programmes, skincare guides and expert advice. Joining a surge in the self-care movement, Luvly seeks delay signs of ageing, improve skin elasticity and offer a self-care ritual. I don’t know about you but 10 minutes to myself at the end of each day sounds like an absolute dream so I can’t wait to put the subscription we have been offered to good use and report back.
