Welcome back to Three Beautiful Things – a monthly favourites round up of what we’ve been seeing, wearing, buying, doing, loving & eating this month. Read on for the restaurant recommendation, the beauty must-have and an Autumn fashion wish-list which have made it to our Top 3 this month.
Eating – Six by Nico, new kid on the Cardiff food scene block, is perfect for a relaxed yet innovative tasting menu experience. The eponymous menu proposes 6 courses which change, you’ve guessed it, every 6 weeks. We enjoyed the refreshing concept on the Chippie experience and – while we enjoyed the whole experience – the Smoked Potato Croquettes and Seaside Spritz were the perfect way to say goodbye to summer over a long Sunday lunch. Top marks for affordability (£37 for the tasting menu with £33 for the matching wines) and creativity (we’re eyeing up the Catalonia menu which promises to be a delicious transition into the Autumn!).
Trying – With the chill setting in (we have definitely felt the temperature drop post heatwave), the Balmonds Skin Salvation which we were kindly sent to try has been a welcome treat. Promising relief for all kinds of issues (think wonder balm for chapped lips, skin, body etc), we can’t wait to try out this multi-tasker as a make-up primer, hair mask or to tame unruly brows. It’s super affordable too, good as baby balm (in light of an all-natural ingredient list featuring beeswax and chamomile) and our new handbag staple.
Shopping – With the change of season comes a desire to refresh our wardrobes. Mindful of shopping less and investing in timeless pieces, we will be looking to stock up on classic pieces starting with this Because of Alice Jumper Dress. For a fun, young vibe Kiwi & Co has some good pieces (we love the Humbug Cardi!) and for an Autumn classic – the white tee with leather jacket / cardigan / blazer combination – we will, of course, turn to Cardiff-based brand L26LABEL.
